Here is the sheath that I said that I would post after I finished it, it is for the competition fighter that I posted the other day. It is the first sheath that I’ve done with a inlay, the inlay is Shark Skin. This is my favorite stile of sheath.

This is my 14th sheath.

Tell me what you think.

Thanks for looking and have a good day. :):D;)

I think that is REALLY nice. I have been a fan of sharkskin inlay for some time. Being able to get a quality sheath directly from the maker is a big bonus in my books.

Looks nice! The only thing I would change would be to have the strap on the other side of the belt loop. I think the handle of the knife would be more centered on the loop that way.

The sheath complements the knife very well.
Do it all,Kyle.

Awesome sheath and inlay.
When the loop comes from the rear and angles forward, it can catch on brush/etc.
When it's placed this way here, it "sheds" entanglements.

Very nicely done sheath, Kyle. Looks like the "fit and finish" that you put into your knives also goes into your sheaths. Just like your knife making shop, the leather end of it will require some additional equipment to speed things up a little and allow you to put the professional touch on your work, but you are headed in the right direction to be one of the few who can do it all. You ought to be ready to take over when I retire again.

edited to add: I know why you put the retention strap where you did and for that application it makes perfect sense. That's sure where I would have put it.

I had a knife that had a sheath strap originating on the blade edge side. Every time you released the blade it attempted to cut the strap one small sliver at a time.

I was then told you should never have a strap on the edge side just because of that.

That is one good-looking package from a fine new maker. Who's taking notes, besides thombrogan....?? ;)

Nice looking sheath, Kyle! Your choice of material for your first inlay job was great. Shark skin is favorite of mine now after having Paul make one for me using it. Works well here and looks like your competition package is ready for action!

Best of luck.

I love sharkskin and I think it looks great the retention strap is in the right place and the only way it will work . You skin that baby fast and if it was on the other side one of those times it will be laying on the floor the retention strap that is

I am always pleased to see a maker that can produce great looking sheaths. That's not always the case. This one looks really good.
