Hey, so i'm looking to make/design a sheath for my zt 0350. I want to make it as a neck sheath, and I'll mainly be using it at the lake. I was going to insert some foam somewhere on it, so if it falls off it'll float(don't want another knife going to the bottom!). What material would be best? Nylon maybe? or leather? I was thinking about using some squirrel skin, but I thought that might be a little over the top;)

Kydex. I have had multiple types of sheaths over the years for my sailing and kydex for minimal maintenance is a clear winner. Be sure to have large enough drains in it that surface tension doesnt hold water in. Is the knife and sheath not going to be worn on a belt? I understand a lanyard on the knife, but a floating sheath seems odd to me. Natural cork is some of the best floating material and I think a lot better lookng than a chunk of foam. Maybe one of those floating camera/binocular straps if your wearing it around your neck.

Yeah Kydex would be the way to go. I'm not sure how you could make it float without adding alot of bulk to it though. I'd think your best option would be to make sure its got good retention and stick with that. If your worried about the neck knife/necklace from sliding off your neck then you can just slip the knife and sheath inside your shirt when not in use.

Hmm okay! How would I make one of those? The knife won't be on a belt. Mostly cause I'll be in swim trunks prob lol. I fish outa a kayak most of the time on a lake. That's the reason I would like it to float... I could always just stick it in my friends otterbox. I like having it close though...
