I just made my secind sheath. Its a horizontal one and I want to make it just a hair tighter. Any suggestions? I havent wet the leather to mold it to the form yet. I was thinking of weting it......then after dry mink oil. Any suggestions to get a slightly moer snug fit?

Thanks

Well...Im not an expert,,,but I do know that leather will shrink if you get it wet and then dry it right...

Warm water, how long to soak is a experience/personal preference thing, wrap the knife in a bit of saran wrap, put knife in sheath and work with your hands, you can use a bit of smooth plastic or antler you grind smooth and polish to help form. Let knife dry in sheath, and it doesn't hurt to remove and insert the knife occasional as it dries, dry slowly, in front of a fan on low or by a heat vent is fine. When I did leather work for a living we used pure neatsfoot oil, the boss felt mink oil did more harm than good. OT I wonder if mad cow, prions, et al. make their way into neatsfoot oil, guess we'll just have to wait and see, we went through the stuff by the drum.
