Frankly, a lot of sheathes that come as standard are not up to much:mad:

The ONLY exception to this is a Russian Kizlyar I have with a stunningly well-made sheath. All too often though a decent knife is marred by some eyesore sheath that does nothing for it.This holds good for folders too, although I have come across cordura sheathes that seem better executed than leather ones (I know some of you will howl at this).

Just got a Bark River bootknife, fantastic quality and finish.Might be the best knife I have right now but the sheath is a nightmare:barf: it's some hideous military 'style' kydex(?? sounds like a laxative)horror with these idiotic screws on it! Where can you get a range of decent quality sheathes? I don't have leatherworking skills myself so I need to buy some in. Any ideas and suggestions? Any of your own experiences with good or ghastly sheathes:D

hey, thanks , the good kizlyar sheaths will be mine ;) :d,
hey hey bark river have very good leather sheaths for the knvies though, . made in serbia,
ther eis few knives that come with good leather sheaths from the factory,, falkniven is good,
the reason some fo the kizlyar sheaths are so solid is becuase the hand stiched ones are made by chaps who used to make shoes..

Willgoy,
They make a very good knife. They are offering some models with kydex made by Sharpshooter Sheath Systems.

Speak to Bark river directlty they would have a leather sheath that would fit. As they use modular style sheaths & a lot fit several model of knives.

If you want a custom there a great sheathmakers on this forum. Do a search there's probably 1 located close to you.

I've done quite a few for customers that aren't happy with the original sheath.

Hope this helps.

I generally consider a factory sheath to be a shipping container to get the knife to me. After all, the factory has no idea how I like to carry a knife, where I want to position it on my belt, how much fat it has to clear (:o ) or anything else about me. A sheath I love you might hate, and vice versa.

I guess what I am trying to say is: Custom sheath is the only way to go, no matter what it comes with ;)
