Sheath included?

I am encountering a little confusion if a molle back sheath is included with the desert tan RC-3. Some web sites only show the knife with no molle back while the original micarta version comes with the molle back sheath. Most dealers sell the molle back for an additional $20. Can someone clear this up. The new knife is nice but the original knife is looking like a much better value.

We recently changed our policy and now sell all knives without the MOLLE back. It is available as an option from dealers. Some dealers may still have packages bought before the policy change and are selling those accordingly. This was done to offer the best price possible to buyers and still offer the MOLLE back to those that wanted it. Mike

I'm not trying to chew you out, but I don't think it is appropriate to discuss pricing of RC products here. Rat cutlery sells its products through a dealer network and those dealers set their prices according to their own policys and market demand.

Jeff and Mike do not prescribe what a knife sells for by a given dealer. They certainly would not want to alienate any of their distributers by promoting a price war here. You should do some of your own comparison shopping and ask about pricing in other, more appropriate, sub-forums.

I hear ya and I understand. I am only going by what the Rat Cutlery website quotes. The desert tan and micarta are shown as being the same price and it implies that they include a molle back sheath system. Its just a little confusing. I think the product is great and a good value.

Glad you didn't take offense, the Ratcutlery website does give a list of dealers and you are right it can be confusing to determine if a given on-line website offering includes the molleback sheath or not. The best bet is to e-mail the proprieter. Whenever I do this, I usually here from the company within 24h, if not then I move on to another company. I have had very good luck with Knivesshipfree both in communication with the owner, a well informed and descriptive website and quick shipping time. I've heard very good things about other dealers too including cumberland and new graham knives. Good luck on your deal hunting!

Thanks, looking forward to owning one of these soon. Tough decision RC-3 or 4, can't afford both. I want it for and EDC/survival.

You are correct that the web site shows the MOLLE back as being part of the standard package and that is an oversight on our part that we did not get that changed yet. Thank you for pointing that out and we will take care of it. Mike

Hard to say. RC-3 I think is a better EDC, RC-4 I think is a better survival knife - Sorry that doesn't help much. I opted for an RC-4 and have no regrets at all. I love this knife, but this doesn't stop me from wanting an RC-3 too.

Yeah, I know, I want one tool that does it all, what a tough decision. Too bad my wife controls the finances.

I'd get the RC-4.
I'd also get the MOLLE back.
Reason is, I've found that standard MOLLE loops make it easy to just fish a standard belt through them and wear the knife horizontally on the belt. This helps keep it from sticking you in the side or legs when you bend or sit, and conceals more easily (check local laws for concealment).

I have both the Rc 3 and 4 . I prefer the rc 3 for EDC but if I could only have one knife it would be the rc4 with molle back. Check Cumberland knife works , chestnut ridge knives, or trustdavesknifeworld.com all 3 are good dealers with good prices and fast shipping in my experience.
