I was browsing through Buck literature and found a catalog #289 listed for the slant front sheath knife display. It was in an early 1980s catalog. Anyone know the first year this catalog number was designated for this particular display? Were there any catalog numbers that pre-date the #289 for a slant front sheath knife display? Any info...gladly accepted:D

How about a new question  Anyone happen to have any information on a 112 FGS, CAT#8080, with a 1988 tang stamp? I looked on the BCCI site under special projects...nada...looked at the price lists from 1987 through 1992, nothing. The closest catalog # is 8072, The Buck Story Video cassette in the 1988 price list, then no more 8000 numbers until 1990, when the etched 110s appear with 81xx CAT #s, then 3 more in 1991, and then TLC, VIP Memory Series, and Workman Series show with 8xxx Order Numbers in 1992.
Most of the 25th Commemmoratives came in silver boxes with black lettering, and they had nickle silver frames.

That is definately one you don't see very often! In fact I don't remember ever seeing one! (until now) :D
She is a beauty! I would send an email to Joe with all of the info on the box etc.
He has been able to track down alot of my misfits that way ;)
Good thing that one was NIB!!!!

Scott, Thats real nice! I allmost went for that one as a "oddball" but I bought the 1981 scrimshaw 112 "WILBUR" instead...I would think there were sure less than 250 as thers no history{I know of} of one for sale.....ITS RARE....

Gee Scott, and I thought I split hairs......;)
Sorry to be no help on your quiries :( I have a couple of the counter displays but never even knew they HAD a number.

I guess I need to spend more time making knives, rather than worrying about details, but details are what keep collecting interesting for me. Plus, if I ever display my knives at a show, I'll need the pertinent info, to be considered for any type of awards. The slant front display Catalog #289 I found while searching for something else, but I still don't know if the CAT # applies to a fully stocked display or just an empty display case. I would assume the latter, as Buck does list their newer display cases in their catalog and note "knives not included".
