Sheath knife retention

Hi, my sheath (SOG Seal Pup Elite, nylon version) after about 5 months no longer retains my knife very well. If I shake it mildly upside down (without the strap on) the knife falls out. It used to retain it very well. The knife has always been store in its sheath.

Is there anything that can be done?
 
Why don't you try the hair dryer trick ?

I have done this with kydex before, it may work on the plastic they use for the knife inserts on these rigs (if they still use them).

Remove the knife, use a hair dryer fairly close to insert and hold near lip of insert and push in on lip while heat is applied.

Let it cool well before inserting knife.

It's worth a try, don't hold too long in one spot...........:o

a couple of years ago I added a second leather hold-strap for my fixed-blade SOG's. The added strap went around the handle. This provided two retention methods for the knife in the sheath.

Thanks for that Robbie, I'll give it a go.

That sounds like a good idea New Pig Hunter, I might do that if I can't improve the retention
