I am just starting out in making my own knives and I tried to do my first sheath out of PVC to go the cheap route before investing in Kydex, etc... Seems to have come out fine, but leaves many fine scratches on the knife. Does anyone who makes hard sheaths use some kind of lining in theirs or do the light scratches just come with using a hard sheath vs. leather. Any suggestions or guidance would be appreciated.

Most of the scratches are due to small particles left during manufacturing of the sheath. If you can keep them clean and ensure you are giving enough room for the knives by taping them when you make your mold. There shouldn't be anything to scratch the knife on.
