Sheath maker familiar with Barknivens? (Fallknivens with Bark River scales)...

So I have a Barkniven S1, and have been looking into various sheath makers for a horizontal carry solution. So far I have a lot of requests to send the knife in, but it's a daily use tool, so I'd like to avoid that if possible.

It occurs to me that hundreds of Barkniven S1s are out there, and being that most sheath makers are knife guys with decent collections, I'd reckon the odds are pretty good that at least one sheath maker owns a Barkniven S1 and has built sheaths for it before... Anybody have any recommendations?

I know Fallkniven from way back, but never heard of a Barkniven?

My bad...

Fallkniven blank + Bark River handle = Barkniven

Definitely not the most common knife in the world, but you definitely see them, particularly the F1 variety... Although since Falknicen stopped selling F1 blanks, you really only see S1 and Wm1 these days. The big three Bark River dealers sell Barknivens when they get some blanks and Mike has time to make some handles...

I had never heard of them either. Thanks for the explanation. And good luck to you in finding a sheath maker.

I've never heard the reference but it's pretty catchy. Were you looking for kydex or leather?

I just checked out a few sheaths we have in stock from Bark River and from the people who have made sheaths for them and I don't have anything for a horizontal carry. Have you tried using the bushcraft sheath it came with in it's canted position?

There are not many of those out there as you might think. In the last 6 years I have made a zillion S1 sheaths but have had exactly one request, yours, for a sheath for the Bark handled one. iirc they run right around 350. Not many sheath makers are investing in low volume semi customs like that to have on hand unless it has Busse stamped on it.

JRE Industries used to make sheaths for them but I don't know if they're still doing much custom work.

You could drop them a line and, if they do, I have a custom S1 here that I could run down to make sure they get you a good fit. Been too long since I stopped in to say hello anyway. :)

Thanks for the info and the kind offer! Very appreciated. I'll reach out to them tomorrow, and PM you if they can figure something out for me... Cheers!
