Hi,

I just got my first No.1 Randall. it's a Number 1-7" with a Stag handle, etc.
I've wanted one for years, but never made the effort. Then, recently, I saw the exact one I've thought about, and grabbed it up. I've only had two Randall s before this, and both had the model number and blade length stamped on the back of the sheath. This one says
" 7 C " on the back. ... can anyone tell me what that means? (I expected it to be stamped 1 7.)
Thanks, Al Gentry

I believe the 7 c stamp designates your knife to have a 7 inch blade with a forward curved hilt. The sheaths have not been stamped 1-7 for a long time.

Thanks, Dan.

It does have a forward curved hilt. Here's the picture of it.
I love this knife. I should have bought one 40 years ago. Its like meeting up with an old friend. When I was a kid, I had a military surplus Ka-Bar. I've always remembered how I became accustomed to the long blade, and learned to use it for almost everything. When I've shopped for knives over the years, even my Randall's, I guess I was looking for my old knife. This one is a keeper, this time.

You've got yourself a real good looking #1 there. I have a couple #1's with stag and finger grooves. But your straight handled stag and forward curved hilt has me thinking I need to get one made up that way too.

Hi Dan,

Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I was at an exposition, at H & H gun range, in Oklahoma City, today, and on the way home, one of those HUGE storms passed, and we're without electricity. I'm using the battery in my laptop.

Thanks for the kind words. It's a pretty nice knife to look at. I'm reluctant to order stag in a custom knife, would rather look for an existing knife, as I can choose the final look that way. I recently canceled a No. 12 - 9", No 14 grind
and just stumbled across this one, afterward. I like the No. 1 most, of all the Randall patterns. I'll look back in after I get electricity back. Never did trust these modern gadgets, like electricity. That's why God made stuff like kerosene..... Coffee coming up..power or not :thumbup:
Kerosene saves the day..

Here's the Stag..

Here's my reg'lar stuff..

The model 1 sheaths can also be used for model 5s (and vice versa), so the sheaths are only marked with the blade length. They've been doing it this way for a very long time now. You're correct that all the other sheaths have the model number on them.

You've got yourself an absolutely gorgeous knife there. Thanks for sharing it with us.

You guys are very refreshing..for a lot of years, I didn't know there were other knife people. Always figured I had a personality problem. How else would I explain spending hundreds of dollars on such a thing. I try to show my wife the price of a real Loveless knife, so she'll start to have perspective on my tiny spending level..:):)

Thanks for the reassurance. She just doesn't understand being moved by a 7 inch blade..;) I tried to show my two newest knives to my buddies at the range, and they just gave me blank looks. They have no woods memories, I guess.

Sounds like you're really gonna have a hard time explaining it when you bring that 13" Thorp Bowie home, then. :D

My girlfriend in highschool's father used to say..why don't you go out with somebody else, once in a while..variety is the spice of life. So, in his honor, today, I got this...

Specially designed to administer an emergency street lobotomy;)

Ivory, Damascus, titanium liner lock, and attitude. 2 3/8 " blade. Now, if I could just borrow a tiny RMK stamp...
