Hey Guys, need some input. I have a sweet Fallkniven F1 with factory micarta scales coming, with no sheath. I am interested in one with the ferro rod loop. Do they stay put , anybody ever loose theirs from the loop? I also need an affordable one as I am of work for surgery and won't be back for a good bit. A stone pouch on the back would be awesome too, but that would probably really start to increase price. Any thoughts, suggestions or pics? Thanks in advance. Steve

Hey Steve great name! Contact ilbruche here on the forums, I have several of his creations and they are top notch! If you want kydex, contact Jeff H-also have one of his and he makes some darn nice stuff.

Moved to the Sheath forum.

Something like this?

I made this one for a forum member. It's for an F1 with micarta scales, with firesteel loop.

I've got two leather sheaths for my F1s from the boys at JRE Industries (one with a firesteel loop and one without) and have been extremely happy with both of them.

If you're looking for kydex or Concealex you should talk to Rob Humelbaugh of Survival Sheath Systems (he's got a forum here under the "Makers" tab.)

I have a couple of F1s so custom sheaths were high on my list:

Ilbruche, I'm looking more for a plain sheath, foldover style pouch. Like the ones Brian T posted. Mine has the factory micarta scales , does anybody know if the same sheath for the other will fit? BTW Ken, I put this in the WSS forum for the guy to tell me how they liked the bushcraft sheath with firesteels and such.

I'm not sure I fully understand your wording but my production F1 and both custom-handled F1s will fit in either leather sheath. All three fit without rattle too so I feel secure that the knives'll be there when I reach for them.

The one on the right (without the loop) is what JRE calls Mahogany and the one on the left is their "standard" color. They also do black sheaths that'd look pretty sweet with the F1GM but I'm not a black sheath guy so I'm happy with pretty much any shade of brown they can provide. :)

I do those also. They can be a plain or fancy as you like. And for around the same price as the JRE sheathes. Firesteel retention is usually pretty good...but it depends on what size firesteel you have. I think the JRE loops are sized for a 3/8" rod. I never rely on the loop alone just to be safe.

ilbruche, I just reread my post and hope that didn't sound too smart a**. I am sick today and may come off grumpy. Both of those are very beautiful sheaths. I may call you when I am ready, I'm getting a 3/8 rod asap. Have a 1/4 now. Does the 550 cord lanyard you use on yours keep it secure enough in the woods? If so that's how I was planning to carry mine, just haven't done it yet.

Brian T, my F-1 came from the factory with micarta scales and a silver nickle guard. Yours with micarta look to be custom done. I am not sure if mine would fit the regular f-1 sheath. Just to clear up here
is a link to one like mine.

What I do is put the cord around the end of the firesteel and then twist it tight. This sorta works like the K & M matchcase system and holds it in place.

I have also just made an untightened fishermans knot so you can adjust the length of the lanyard.

Thank you Il, I checked out your sight a while ago. You have some very nice work, knives too! I'll keep that in mind. As soon as I can afford it I'll email you and we'll figure out a sheath. Thanks for your help. Steve
