Hi all,

I have a 2007 FBM Special Edition on the way to me and need some sheath suggestions.

I have used David Brown for a number of sheaths and am very happy with them but I think for this one I may deside to go with leather.

Since I am in Canada, I am hoping to find someone that could make one without me sending the knife? (Maybe there is a maker that owns this knife or has one with similar specs.) My understanding is that it isn’t as popular as some of the other FBM as this on is .27 thick.

Also if anyone has pictures of sheaths they have I would love to see them.

Thanks in advance,
Justin

Save the time and rejection lol emails and email Condos leather, (from personal experience it' hard to get on the books on some of the other leather makers) i think most of em just have regular customers base.
I'm sorry if I'm being too blunt.
P.S.
Congrats on a Grail of a blade, I think it calls for nice leather sheath with Exotic inlay lol

A BGFBM with a thick layer of tape on each side should work fine for a leather mold for that knife.
I don't think I parted wth the kydex sheath I had for one of those, I'll have to look around for it.

Mpjustin, If that will work then I would be happy to make a sheath for you.

??? I might be the exception to the rule ??? :p and I have one. but ya know....

All are good choices here. It looks like you can take your pick and I wouldn't rule any maker out on hearsay. Lot's of good guys making good products out there, some might be busy, or were busy, but others might be ready and willing to make something happen like Leatherman & AGH demonstrated. ;)

Just as a point of clarification, the FBM's are not all the same length. I have three in front of me now, and as mentioned they have different lengths

Battle Grade FBM: 16.5"
NMFBM (Same as what OP has coming): 17.5"
CBT Bronze FBM: 16 3/8"

I am building a full baldric rig now for the NMFBM that will be on it's way to Canada this week, but the knife is going with it since he had it shipped direct to me by the seller. I have not acquired one myself but if Dwaine has one then I wouldn't look any further :)

Thanks everyone,

Dwaine, if you have one and are accepting orders I may reach out to you once I have the blade in my possession. I should have it later next week.

Also AZTimT, if you happen to have a kydex one kicking around that you are interested in selling I likely would be interested in it as well. (I think it’s time for me to upgrade to Gold Membership so I can send and receive PM’s)

Thanks again everyone, there are some very helpful and informative people on this forum.

Hey mpjustin,

Lots of good options here; I thought I'd post a couple of pics of Chad Pirtle's work. He built a sheath for my BG FBM, and it's our awesome. This is he Cyborg model, which uses some kydex along with his typical leatherwork to improve retention. He also made it to hang low and added a 'lamda' per my request to pay tribute to my Greek heritage (there's a Spartan line in my family).

Besides doing excellent work, we exchanged over 70 emails, filled with friendly conversation. He's both a great craftsman and a great guy.

Here are a couple of hasty (and thus crappy) cellphone pics in my kitchen:
