Now that Talfuchre isn't making sheaths anymore (which I'm still broken up about!), what are my options for a new sheath for my Hunter?

I picked the knife up on the exchange and I'm not a fan of the sheath it came with... doesn't ride well for me and the snap is damaging the wood on the handle.

Send an email to Andy or hit Bandido Leather up here on the forum, but I dont think Robert checks the forum that much. He is doing all of Andy's leather knife sheaths for now. Meet while at Blade, cool dude and does excellent leather for not too much money. Also you got herbert aka wildman (I think) he has a sticky at the top of the forum here.

Yes. Two options are Heber, and Robert. A snap. Which sheath is this?

The ad I purchased it from said it was an HJE

There is a paper thin piece of leather glued to the back of the snap, but it's still grooving the wood.

How would I go about getting one from Robert? Can I do that through you, Andy? Or should I try contacting him directly?

I know Heber is up to his ears with machete sheath orders, and I like sampling makers. :)

Just contact him directly. His contact 411 is posted in a stickey at the top of my forum.

That looks like a well made sheath, btw. The reason I don't like straps and keepers is twofold. They may scratch the handle or blade. Also, they immediately take a set, and you have to manuver the blade past them into the sheath. Often you must hold it out of the way with your fingers. Thats a tenuous position for your fingers to be in over and over again.

Hey Skrap. I just made this one for my hunter. Its a bush sheath with firesteel loop. I wont be taking it out anytime soon and I can always make another. If thats your style I could send it to you.

Kane, that is a sheath that I made back in May. Sorry the snap is digging into the handle. I have not figured out how to prevent that on that style sheath. Now adays I personally use a different style sheath for that size of knife and like it. Pics are in my Signature. I can make other styles of sheaths and my lead time has dropped recently, just so that you know. ;)

Bandido leather from what I've seen does a pretty nice job on sheaths. :)

I never put together than HJE was you... smart of me. ;)

It is a well-made sheath, it's just that snap. I took off the retention strap to see if I could just carry it with friction, but the belt loop is a little too narrow for that so the knife flops around too much without the strap.

I'll take a look at some of the pics when I get home from work today!

I had that problem years ago with the snap scratching some knife i had. I cut and glued a small piece of soft swede the size of the snap over it. It worked really well, but are'nt Andys knives made to be used? :D

Hey Skrap,
Can i see a pic of that Hunter out of the sheath?
I love the Hunter's and need a fix till i get one, lol.
Thanks
