Sheath position - which side of the belt buckle?

I used to carry my bali in the sheath at the left side of the belt buckle. Recently I got my new #42, and found that the sheath was supposed to be put on the right side of the belt buckle by the direction of BM logo was written. At the left side of the belt buckle the logo gets upside down.

I still love to have my bali at left side, but want to hear experts' opininons - pro and cons - all appreciated. Personally I feel more confortable if the bali can be drawn by my left (weak) hand, compensating for a little inconvenience in use by right hand.

Or... too much watching "the FBI" in childhood.

Sometimes I carry the sheath on the left side of my belt, for a weak hand draw as you describe. However, when I do that I usually have a Spyderco clipped to my right pocket.

A left hand draw really forces you to work on your drawstroke.

Left hand? weak side...
you guys are weird heh

I carry a spyderco Police clipped or in my left pocket and a really nifty yet over priced 7" open balisong (from www.skm.to)
in my watch pocket...to fight boredom and clean my fingernails

Nate

PS skm's briarwood and brass balisong (7") is really nice looking....sort of a gentlemans folder of balisongdom
I think it was like 28dollars incl shipping

Carry the way it feels most comfortable with. If you think there´s faster methods and you want to invest time and sweat, practice the faster method until it´s also the most comfortable. I wouldn´t care if the logo were upside-down though

I used to carry my balisong horizontally at the small of the back, flap to the right/strong hand. Was ok for me, but I always had a faster knife on me (Spydie, Benchmade, fixed blade etc.)

hey... when it's upsidedown you can read it... hehe... just kidding... always carry it comfortable... that's best...

Tactically, either or both are fine.

For utility purposes, most people will prefer their strong side. For most people, that is the right side. So, that is why Benchmade put the logo that way. Now, if you were to take that same sheath and wear it on the left with the logo upside down, it would not work. It can't work. It's upsidedown. So, fortunately for you, I do offer a service. Just send me your sheath and a cashier's check for $250 and I will fix it for you and send it back to you and then you can carry it on your left side.

Of course, you could just always ask Susan about the custom Kydex sheath project. I tried one out at Bladeshow and I can tell you that I'm getting one soon.

Put it where ever it feels best for you. Don't worry about the LOGO (of all things).

When I only have ONE Balisong on me (not too often these days) I like to have the sheath horizontal on my right side next to my belt buckle........ flap forward, and latch forward.

This way, you can do a quick Latch drop opening with the right hand OR grab across with the left hand and execute an opening of choice.

I'm pretty ambidextrous with a Bali these days, so it's good to have the option of opening with either hand.

Thanks guys for nice advice and great fun. I'll try various positions. And also try to get another #42 for symmetric reason!

I confess I always carry BM 975S in my right pocket for three years now, so my Q is more for rightness , and suitableness rather than convenience. A quick cross-draw of Iaido style seemed cool to me, still not very good at it after hundreds times of practice, a deep cut in the middle finger joint included, and wanted advice to judge the technique is promised or worthless.

I avoid right front side to keep the sheath on the belt in bathroom. #42's lightweight and its sheath's tight fit will help. 7" bali sounds nice but I never have my knife in my watch pocket since I had my small spidy Walker in my watch pocket just forgot about it, and found it at the airport thanx to the metal detector of security.

judge, do you carry fixed blade sometimes? It's monsoon season here, hot and damp. Bad season for knife carry.

I remember good old days when there on the sheath was a beautiful butterfly I didn't have to read anything. I wanted but hesitated to try to find someone for help me read the logo in front of my belt. It would be an embarrassing scene in public...

Ooops, sorry for the broken link, although it seems to be typed correctly. It should link to the topic "What Knife Do You Carry and Why?" in the Filipino Combat Arts forum, in the Tactics & Training section.

Eventually I found the thread and couldn't help envy you. People "East Empire" enjoy so much freedom than so called freedom countries.
