Sheath Problem with Shadow IV

Hello!

I bought myself a Shadow IV on the weekend from a knife shop near to were I work. Beutiful knife....however, once I got the thing home I noticed that the button that holds down the belt loop on the sheath was VERY difficult to close. Once closed and attached to your belt it would pop out again as soon as you tried to draw the knife.
So I took it back to the shop, no questions asked, and I got a new sheath. The same button is a bit better but it still has the problem that you cannot draw the knife while its hanging from your belt without the dang thing opening!

Any similar experiences?

those snaps are designed to fasten and unfasten only one way. you should be able to rotate the male end so the nub, for lack of a better word, is facing the direction that would limit the liklihood of coming undone. probably facing down.

I have 14 of CRK one piece knives and know exactly the problem your having. I delt with the exact same thing upon getting my first few, but after playing around with them, found the solution. I hope I can explain it the right way and in a way you will understand..........The snap is designed to open only one way. If you put your hands in the loop and try to pull it apart, if snapped correctly, it will not seperate or release. If you pull apart the loop below the snap ( towards the bottom of the sheath ) and pull towards the loop part, or top of the sheath, it will release. When I want to lock it closed I bring the snap together pushing it flush with the sheath onthe loop side ( with the opposite side of the snap up in the air and flush with the top of the snap). Think of it like a rocking chair. After locking the side towards the loop, rock it back towards the bottom of the sheath pushing it flush. Some of mine take more pressure than others. It snaps ( locks ) into position tightly. If this is done correctly, you can check it by spreading the loop open widely. If it releases, try it again. Below I took some pictures that are step by step. Hope this helps !!!

nyefmaker, thank you so much, this worked just as you described it. The pics were also a great help. Now the button attaches solid as a rock.

This is why I love these forums! :p

The Sheath is in Excellent Condition and looks even better in person. This is an old CRK too. I just purchased it. It is a Jereboam I with the Sawtooth Back and was made in South Africa. My Chris Reeve "Holy Grail" I will have to post some pics in the next day or so.

Here are the pictures as Promised, Enjoy !!! I even threw a picture of my CRK Pachmayr with Original CRK Sheath !
