Here is a photo of the red sheath i mentioned a couple of days ago. The knife is a 91 110 with nothing special to it. The biggest question i have is what went on the flap where the diamond shape tooling mark is?

The knife is in excellent shape, am in process of cleaning up.

My guess; the knife was a company award of some kind, and a pin/insignia was attached. Our company outsources this to a company that supplies the award. They have a catalog of awards for years served, and our company logo, with small jewels, gets attached to otherwise standard commercial items.

I'd bet that the knife isn't the one that came with the sheath. I say that, because it would be unusual for only the sheath to be marked with what ever it's for. Most "award" or advertising knives I have or have seen are marked somehow.

Mitch, I agree with both these guys . 1) that sheath is much earlier than 1991, its more like 1981 . 2) I think a companies insignia could have been on the sheath 3) I have a early 1970's 124 Frontiersman that has a Master Sergeant's insignia on the flap of the sheath . I was told this model knife was sometimes awarded when a serviceman reached this rank . DM

When did Buck stop using the snap with Buck on it only once? Seems I read somewhere when the change took place, but I don't remember when it was.
I do know that I just checked out a 1990 112, new in the box and it's original sheath has Buck stamped on the snap three times so I believe that the snap with the single Buck would be earlier than that.

Plumber, Yes . That the 3 times Buck snap showed up about the same time as the year dates . DM
