Are there any leather or cordura sheaths available for the Government model? If so, what is the cost and who do I contact? Also, what was the Magnadot designed for? Just curious.

Hi Tom,

We have almost no alternate sheaths for our knives....BUT, this is your lucky day! We do have both nylon and leather sheaths available for the Government (also fitting the Government Agent and Desert Dagger). For acquisition, call my Consumer Services staff at 888.SOG.BEST.

In response to your other question, the MagnaDot was designed as the ultimate general-purpose knife. It's not a stabber. It's not meant to scare the crap out of someone. It's not a gentleman's knife. It's just an everyday general-purpose hardworking knife. I've heard people use the MagnaDot in a warehouse doing tasks like opening boxes/crates, on a construction site for just about anything (including a pry bar), worn on the hip of a maintenance worker, to store in someone's truck in case of an emergency, for dressing small game, as a companion while hiking...shoot, it can do almost anything (including “scaring the crap out of someone”). With Zytel handles, it is lightweight and affordable. Looking at the blade, it is a substantial piece that instills tons of confidence in the user, making him think that he can do almost anything.

Now thats customer service, I just talked to the young lady in customer service and ordered one of each sheaths.
Also looking for a plain blade Magnadot.......another knife quest begins.

Received both leather and cordura sheaths from SOG customer service, apparently the last leather sheath SOG had. Timing is everyting! And they are very nice indeed.
Can't wait to put the knife and sheaths to use on the next alligator hunt. Thanks again Ron and customer service!
