I hope this is the right place to ask this. I just received a Kydex sheath from a very reputable sheath maker but it's a hair to tight to get the knife in. It will only go about 3/4ths into the sheath. He told me he couldn't insure a perfect fit by useing his knife as they could very a little. They did. :( I tried doing a search but everything I found was about making the sheath, Nothing about adjusting it. What can I do to adjust it so the knife will go into the sheath. The knife is a Busse Steel Heart with the black crinkle coating.

Thanks for any help,
silas

The kydex sheaths are formed with heat usually from a hot air gun. Maybe with a hair dryer on high you might be able to heat it up enough to reform it just enough so your knife will work.

Do you think if you removed one rivet that it would flex enough to allow the knife to go in? Can you post a picture?

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if the Hair dryer waould be hot enough but I'll give it a go. I have no Picture posting abilities. I'm not sure about removing a rivet. Just from looking at it, I don't see how that would work for this particular sheath. I'll let you know how it turns out.

While looking for a hair dryer I though, shoot, I'll just hold it over one of the eye's on the electric stove top. I pushed the SH as far in the sheath as it would go and being sure not to mess the temper up in the blade I slightly heated it up and the knife slowly pushed all the way into the sheath. It now works great.

thanks,
silas
