Sheath Recommendation - White River Defender

I have a White River Knives Jerry Fisk Defender (photo at end). The sheath that came with it never really worked for me (the belt holder part was loose, difficult to readjust, and not easy to put on larger belts). I have decided to get a new custom sheath and wanted some advice.

I will be carrying this knife primarily while hiking and camping. Hiking I use a lightweight pack with waist strap. The knife is a fixed blade with a 6.5 inch blade and 11.5 inch overall length.

I'm looking for recommendations on the style of sheath and carry method/s. There are lots of options and I haven't really carried a fixed blade outside of my life as an infantryman (when it was normally strapped to my armor), so I am hoping to get some opinions from the group.

I'm leaning heavily towards leather. With this being a larger knife, I'm not sure if a mid ride carry would work, or if a low ride would be better. I'm also not a fan of straight up and down carry (but I suppose that's because I have only used sheaths that came with the knives) so wondering if an angled carry would work with this size of a knife.

Thanks in advance for your opinions. I have taken a look at the sheath makers on here but want to have a general idea of what I'm asking for before reaching out. Happy to hear recommendations on sheath makers also (if that's allowed here).

Don't know if you like crossdraw, canted mount, but Cody Rowe made me several, one for a 7.5 inch bark river knife of similar style to yours. The cant helped to distribut the length and seemed to minize the lenght. I also have a Ferhmann 6" with the same kind of mount. Right hand dominant, mounted left side cross-draw with foreward cant. I really love that fit, and it retains the knife under all sorts of circumstances without any sort of snap or blade restraint. Cody Rowe's work I appreciate. I'm sure there are many others, and it could be an extra half-inch makes it seem awkward. But I hate dangling knifes and mid or high mount on dominant side. This approach keeps the blade up, tight and neat, totally accessible, amazing retention and just perfect.
One does need to pay attention when re-sheathing the blade, but other than that, all is good.

I've never had to grab my knife while hiking (instead, I keep bear spray handy in an easily accessible outside pack pocket) so I carry my knife inside my pack. The waist belt gets in the way of belt carry and having a bulky knife/sheath attached to the shoulder strap is pretty awkward. You could mount it on the outside of your pack where it would be within easy reach. A good knife like that deserves a custom sheath.
