I have a n HI sheath that is getting quite beat around the top. Is there anyone around who can fix it?

Thanks.

Thanks.

BTW, Sorry to hear Uncle Bill and Rusty passed. That appears to have been almost a year ago.

Thanks folks, but Terry Sisco has informed me he lo longer does this sort of work. Any other ideas?

I have some primo xtra HI scabbards, what are your dimentions?
Picture(s) might help.

Thanks.

I have an 18" WWII. Sheath is 15-15.5" long, with the forward curve starting around 6" and extending for another 9" or so. The width at the top is around 2.5" and widens to 2 3/4" at its widest point, just around where the forward curve starts. Blade width is around 1/2."

I have a silver tip to the sheath that I'd have to remove to get it to match. I assume this is glued on with tree resin and can be heated with a heat gun to remove?

Dreadfully sorry, Old Chap, but none of my spare scabbards is even 12" long. It was a supprise to me as I thought they were larger.

It is my understanding that a heat gun will do the job of softening the "himalayan epoxy" used to hold the chape on.

Thanks. Yangdu may have one.

If not, a gentleman in Huntsville, AL - a Mr. Russ Ellis can repair it for me, but I'm not expecting it to be all that cheap and it will take 8 months wait.

8 months sounds like a long time. Expensive is bad. Post some pics. Bri in Chi is our scabbard guy and may be able to help. I'm wondering if you could just cover the worn leather around the mouth with some that isn't worn. A collar around the top if you will. Anyway post some pics, we want to see.

Thanks folks.

Yangdu has a scabbard which I'm buying and Mr. Ellis says $40-50 sounds about right, possibly including a few modifications, so I asked him to put me on the waiting list.

I'm sure there are other solutions, but these sound right for now.

A collar is what I might suggest as well. It's also a nice way to use a scrap of something nice that's too small for a sheath. If it tucks under the frog a bit, it looks pretty nice. Folding over the top to make a rolled edge looks cool too. Elmer's or woodworker's glue works fine. Just mask the area you don't want glue all over.:D
