While fidgeting, I thumped my sheathed Khukuri (edgewise) against the arm of a cheap couch in my apartment. One of these fidgety movements ended up being a little too vigorous as I managed to chop a 4" slice through the leather encasing the scabbard.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do about this?
(Other than the wiseguy remarks I am sure to receive:p )

First, Be very happy that your leg wasn't in the way. Then try to glue the rig back together again.

*L* Yeah, I remember when the infamous stitches pic came out of the wound inflicted by a falling blade.

And remember the Gorkha who killed the leopard with the khukuri --while it was still in the sheath.

Wire wrap it.

Good Idea... Has anyone tried to re-leather their sheath before? Is it very difficult? I was wondering as there is a leathersmith not far from me from whom I could purchase some.

It's not that hard . Just buy thin leather soak it for about an hour. Stretch it over the wood core and sew it up the back. Take a look at how the original sheath has been sewn, it will give you an idea as how and where to start.
God Bless.
