My little brain has been churning lately with all the MOLLE lock / tek-loc / para-cord carry issues and advice threads of late. This has forced me to post this thread to express what for me would be about perfect. My purpose for this is to utilize the abundant BF resources at hand and hopefully someone will point me to someone reputable that could bend one up for me.

Here's what I'd like to own. This is hard to describe... I'd like some kydex bender to make a slick looking matching kydex piece thats form fitted to the bottom half of the RC-4 kydex sheath. Single sheet cut in same pattern as the lower half of the RAT sheath that would incorporate a firesteel holder (for the RAT Firesteel) to hang below the "edge" of the sheath. Holes cut to match so attachment would be via chicago screws.

Now that being one functional piece, I'm not stopping there. All that wasted kydex space layed over the outside of the sheath should have a ballistic nylon accessory pocket attachment with a cinch-down buckle similar to the RC-5 sheath's pouch. The accessory pocket could be permanently attached to the kydex firesteel loop piece or a bolt-on setup using the chicago screws.

Now you have a bolt-on accessory for the RC-4 (I have a 4 but why not a 3 too.) factory sheath that slickly incorporates an accessory pouch with a firesteel loop.

But I'm not done. Since this all bolt's on with chicago screws.. On the backside of the sheath I'd like a kydex setup for a belt to slip though for horizontal carry. Vertical carry should be an option as well.

Personally, I think this is a marketable idea. Set it up as 3 seperate components or in a combo package. I'm a righty but carry horizontal so techincally my presentation side is "lefthanded carry" so this would all have to be made for left and right handed carry.

I'd buy it immediately. -Which is why I'm asking all you fine gentleman if you know of a good kydex bender to make me one. He can have the idea. I just want this setup for myself. (I'm selfish like that)

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Thanks.

You lost me at "My little brain has been....":D

Just kidding, seriously though, that sounds like a great idea.

My suggestion to you would be to pick up a few sheets of Kydex and go over to the "Sheaths and such" area of the forum and start reading a few of the tutorials over there and give it a shot yourself.

It's really not that hard to do and the only specialized tools you'll need are a drill bit and perhaps a Dremel.

Sounds like a great setup. Try Eric at On Scene Tactical.com He may be able to help. Let us know how it goes.

Thought about the DIY path. I'm definately into that sort of thing.. Always like a new project. I'll meander over to that section and check it out.

My project will sort of involve two trades. Kydex bending and then for the pouch you're talking a sewing side topic. Sewing with some industrial type stuff to punch through the thick ballistic nylon.

My biggest problem is I'm anal and things need to look as good as they function or I have no use for them. -Which is why I like the RAT products so much :D
