Sheath that won't mark up folders

Does anyone make sheaths for folders that don't have metal snap backs on the inside of the sheath which usually mark up the knife handle?

I'm guessing you are talking about a belt sheath that closes, right?
Yes sir. The metal snap that holds the belt loop in place has its back side on the inside of the sheath where the knife sits. And it has direct contact with my Protech TR4 and it's black coated aluminum handle is bound to get marked up.

Normally I wouldn't worry about minor scrapes. But on the coated aluminum , it's going to look awful with shiny aluminum peeking through the black coating.

But an open sheath would be fine too.

When I bought a custom folder years back, the maker included two belt pouches that have Velcro for closing instead of a snap.
That won't scratch your knife. :)

True. But what I'm talking about is the metal snap back that attaches the belt loop to the sheath.

The other side of that snap (or rivet) goes to the inside of the sheath and will surely scrape the coated aluminum handle.

Collectors knives has a good selection of pocket slip and sheaths.

Wolverine,

One I use for my folders is an ammo clip pouch. It will accommodate a pretty wide variety of knives because the flap has a long velcro strip. It has a slip in belt clip (no rivet or snap). You can remove the metal clip and there is a sewn on belt loop as well.
I carried mine today. I carry my Grail in it (it has no pocket clip).

It isn't perfect but it does a pretty good job for me and the price is right (so a person can have a few of them without too much investment). I bought it from the online outfit with the little "a" and the same name as the big old river.

Here it is with a Buck 110 pouch for size comparison.

^^ That's a great idea. Thank you sir.

I'm not even really a pouch/sheath guy with my folders. But something about carrying an auto (despite the fact that it has a safety) makes me want to try carrying it in a sheath.

The Benchmade nylon folder sheath looks decent too. No snaps or metal and it's all black with no big bright logo. I like subdued.

Find one with the belt loop sewn on. The Victorinox pouches I use have sewn on belt loops. They last forever. You can also have belt pouches made with sewn belt loops

Aw heck yeah no snaps:

Throw it on your belt and call er good. Secure enough for cowboying, or cowgirling in this case:

Whole nuther idea. Often called a Buckaroo Pouch or a Folding Knife Pouch. Drop your folder into the pouch, back braid it onto your belt loop and drop into your pocket. Need you knife, tug on the thong, leave the pouch hanging while you use your knife, then drop it back into the pouch and back into your pocket.
