Sheath to big?

Good day,

I'm new into sheath making and I have one that's a little to small. If I wet it and leave it sit untill it's dry will that shrink it at all? Also if that's correct should the knife be in it or not? Thanks for all your help.

Try this...it works for me if the sheath isn't too too small:

Wrap the knife in a baggie or Saran wrap, unless it's a user and don't mind that it get a little wet, don't bother with the wrapping.
Hold the sheath under HOT running water and get it good and drippy wet....then shove the knife down into it like it's prom night.

Leave the rig set over night in room temperature with the knife in it....if it fits when it's wet, it will fit when it's dry. It should be nice and hard when it's dry too....don't know bout you, but I like that......put a coat of your favorite leather finish on it and you're good to go.
