I'm looking to make a fixed blade sheath out of leather in the near future. Does anyone know of any good tutorials for making leather sheaths for fixed blades in the 5" range?

Thanks

I'd post this in the shoptalk section if I were you. There are some very skilled sheathmakers there that should be able to help you out. Unfortunately I can't offer any advice, I only make kydex sheaths (and I'm not all that good at them :footinmou )

NR....

I dont get to post much here due to all you guys are all way better at this stuff than I ever will be...

However I did make a "Sheath Tutorial" that I can show you...

I base my knife sheath on the Ed Folwer design. I have set up my tutorial in such a way as to help Myself remember how to make the darn thing, as I make so few that I keep forgetting how that are done!

Dan - Go hang out with IG but stand way back.......you might catch it. The knife making bug that is! :D Dont worry my friend, the knife will have a sheath but learning to make what you want is still a great idea :D

Keep reading all you can. Get yourself a decent belt grinder...learn tool safety!! And start making. All the skill will follow with practice and more reading and more practice. Everyone who does this is always learning young Jedi :D Me especially ;)

Dan: Draw out a pattern and send it to me and I'll cut it out of some 5160 and send it back. It will make it a little easy for you to get started on it.
