Some like a clip on their folder - Some do not. Sometimes I like having a pocket clip - sometimes I don't. If you use a sheath and put the clip on the sheath instead of on the knife, you can preserve the integrity of the knife but have the convenience of a clip, with greater versatility than a belt loop.
If the sheath is open, you can get a pretty fast draw, although not as fast as an unsheathed knife [autoopening designs and maybe the Emerson Commander aside] Me, I like to close the sheath. I also like a thin sheath for minimum bulk.
Who's got, makes or knows of clip sheaths of any kind? Any opinions?
P.S. Sorry about the typo in the spelling of "dilemma": I gues I wuzn't thimcing.

HJK,
I will be offering an open sheath with a clip very soon. For the past 4 months I have been prototyping and redesigning this clip pouch. I am going to offer it in 2 sizes to accomodate large and small folders. The pouch is made of balistic nylon with elastic and a plastic clip (no more scratching paint on your car!). I have been carrying my knife without a clip for the past 3 months and I must say that the pouch works beautifully and I personally prefer carrying my knife without a clip now.
I will be posting the clip pouch on my web site in the next month and it should be available for delivery at the same time.
Keep an eye on my web site for pictures and specs to come soon.

I have been making FB sheaths with clips for a year or two. My focus has been on a IWB sheath with a clip. The logic of this is that you have a secure method of IWB carry with the convience of quick and easy removal. I have yet to produce a sheath for a folder with a clip but I am working on a FB IWB sheath that incorporates one. The only draw back to the clips that I use is that they are chromed and not as stealthy as I might like so I am making an IWB sheath that will have a pouch type sheath for for a folder concealing the clip. If your shirt rides up the only thing the sheeple will see is a pouch type sheath common to buck 110's and 112's or leathermen, ect. Instead of the chrome clip obviously concealing something in your pants or so I hope as I do not have a prototype yet.

Allen, sounds great. Please put me down for one and let us know as soon as they are ready. If you're not too busy, perhaps you or the Mrs could shoot me an email. Thanks.
I have an in the pocket sheath that came with my Tinives Dresser and it's great. It stays in the pocket when you pull the knife out.

Allen, it does sound great and I'm interested
as well. Maybe an announcement here on BFF would be a possibilty?
You're a busy, busy creative guy, for sure! This innovation is a little ironic, although not surprising - you've been making the nicest clips out there, like the wire style on the phantom or the short anodized one on the incredible stainless damascus integral-lock I recently acquired from Les.
Does this mean we can expect to see dressier and fancier designs? Please keep us posted

I will post on BladeForums when the clip pouch are available. I am indeed planning on making more of the fancier knives but also I wanted to find an alternative to the clip on the knife because it does will weird in the hand.
Thank you,
