Sheath wood

Bill:

Do you know what kind of wood is used in the khukuri sheath?

I've noticed a little swelling and contracting depending on the outside temperature and humidity. It's definitely not an usability issue, but has me a little curious.

Hi Joel:

I think it is pine. Soft so it can be easily routed out to house blade and soft wood tends to soak up moisture quicker than hard.
