I know this is probably not the right place to ask this question but a seller has had a lot of leather sheaths he's selling. He says they are WWII and has been getting $150 to $250 each. The last one sold is item #370309415380 on the bay. How do we know these are authentic WWII? If they are, why are they selling so high? Thanks.

Looks like it could be the real McCoy. I am amazed by the deep pockets out there, and the desire for rarity/oldness over beauty, quality, and utilitarianism. One could easily have a better sheath from a custom maker for much less money. There is somebody out there who will buy anything at a crazy price if you hit it right. There is a certain $3 Beatles LP album out there which is rare and has sold for $10,000. Wish I had enough money to be that stupid and get away with it.

That sure could get the forgers going. I know they all look like the real McCoy but I'm not willing to risk my allowance on one.

Collectors who are into these kinda military knives and such are just as sure as you Schrade collectors of what is worth what and what is real. As obvious to you that a new Schrade came from China, an experienced Military knife collector can tell a WW2 issue leather sheath by Boyt from a copy.

I know the price on this sheath seems a little high to a couple of you, but hey, who would believe the price you guys pay for old schrade made in USA pocket knives?

Point taken regarding the Schrade. However, you can see in the photo USA versus China or nothing. It's hard to tell real from fake in a photo and there is no identifying mark on the sheath. I guess one takes a chance. I did get burned by a seller who showed a photo of a Schrade USA and sent me a China made. He never made it good so I chopped up the China and mailed it back to him. :)
