SHEATHS...an "unscientific test"...

...As I read a thread that's going on right now in here...I remembered a "test" I did a while back...I had left three (3) sheaths out on a coffee table while I was doing some work on the knives. Two (2) of the sheaths were leather 112 sheaths...one black and one maroon. One of the sheaths was a heavy cordura sheath also from a 112. They sat side by side until----------------------------------------->>>...THE DOG FOUND 'EM! ! ! ! ...Needless to say I suddenly had a "sheath shortage"...My totally unscientific test showed me that the leather sheaths are vastly preferred 2 to 0 over the cordura sheath... (which sat totally undisturbed ) ...by the typical "house mutts" down here in Florida...:eek: :eek:

I agree with you Darryl, I have purchased a couple knives that had a leather sheath (read chew toy) Never had a cordura sheath that was chewed though...:D

...These were very old sheaths Trax...I think they were pretty "clean" compared to today's sheaths...With the "doggie smile" I saw on the mutt's mug I think she enjoyed 'em quite a bit. Might have to try to get some more heavy cordura sheaths with the way she's been sniffin' around my knife locker lately though...LOL...:eek: :eek:

critters do prefur bucks leather sheaths
over the cordura ones!!!!
My test did not use a dog,
because it was to conferm
that all chewing things liked Buck leather also!
one of my storage boxes had a 124 sheath
from 71 in it not in a baggie.
on conclusion of the test
there was a good 1/2 inch missing
from the point location!
the leather ones in plastic were un touched!
the mouse sacrficed his self later
for exam of his body to insure that
there were no chemicals buck used
that would prevent the decay of
non leather organic materals.
RATS! now i am needing another
old sheath also as had we shared info
one of us could have saved a sheath!
