I've been carrying my Fat Ash1 around with no sheath.. David has my sick new sheath waiting for me at his house.. well I'm on the highway an I reach into my edc bag to grab gum an.....yep you guessed it SLICEEEE!!!
This by the time I was at the last stop light before I got home blood was all down my arm..this poor woman in the car next to me about fainted when she looked over...hehe
It wasn't that bad but it bled a lot.. from here out I'm getting a sheath from Buy Brown the second I get a new blade.

p.p.s.

Did you sew it up yourself ;)

Yikes.

You can keep it in the cardboard until you get a proper sheath if you're going to tote it anyways.

If you order the sheath the same time you order the knife chances are you will have the sheath a full two weeks before you get you knife!

You need a small stable of generic temp sheaths to use until you get fitted sheaths for your new stuff

It certainly happens man.
Lay the Hydrogen peroxide and Neosporin to it....

Ha, ha! And two weeks is plenty of time to get a Tek Lok mounted to the sheath.

After the ER charging 3900 dollars for 2 stitches on my son I'm looking into learning it myself.
Still thinking they overcharged. But even their itemized bill (after asking for it) only provides procedure numbers...

The stitches on the pictures look great. Any pointers on how deep stitches should penetrate the skin? Too deep and I'll get additional scars and too shallow might tear out too easily I guess.

Steri strips are one of the best at home fixes. Pulls it closed and you can put a bandage over it if it keeps bleeding.

Yes super glue for God's sake man I have s few stitch kits just in case but never used one every time the thought of doing it myself made me grab the super glue. my son recently had to go get 8 due to dog bite the doctor was nice enough to very thoroughly show me what she was doing and how to do the stitch very cool of her but I haven't got the bill yet

Lots of great sheath makers around here. No excuse for not having a sheath! Hope you heal up nicely OP. Here is the Buy Brown I have for my Elmax AD. Freaking awesome.

This is after I got home an scrubbed off the thick and dried blood... dried it off then went to grab bandaids.. that's when I took this pic..it was already starting another mess..

That looks like a perfect fit for 'Compeed.' That stuff stocks like crazy, seals the wound and blood in, and can stay on for several days. First time you pull it off, the skin is already mostly healed. I've used it several times for pretty bad gouges and cuts like that.

Unsheathed is when a sharp cutting instrument is most capable of damage indeed.
I've never cut myself with one in a sheath. ;) Heal soon!
