Good looking sheaths! I got a question though. I notice there is sort of a three layer construction to the sheaths with a middle "liner" to form a sort of pouch. Is it possible to eliminate this middle layer and lay the knife on the piece with the belt loop and simply mold the front piece of leather over the knife?

You can but the middle layer protects the thread from being cut by the blade. Without it it wouldn't last long I don't think.

It is called the welt, if I remember correctly, and it is to keep the edge from cutting the thread. You glue that strip in with contact glue, and then stitch through the welt. Whamo, a nice thick piece of leather protecting your stitches, and your leg or hand on the other side!

You could make a sheath without the welt, if you wanted to use rivets, and put them where they would protect the thread, but you also would not want your edge to touch the rivets, because it would dull your knife.

Great knifes and sheath.

I am making a folder sheath tonight for my Dad.
