Sheaths dulling knives.

Got two sheaths that do this crap. A glass filled nylon sheath for a cold steel kobun and a nylon sheath with some sort of plastic insert that dulls it if the edge scrapes it upon withdrawal on a Gerber warrant. Any suggestions besides making a new sheath? Anything I can spray or put into it? Any idea how to take a riveted sheath apart to put something where the edges meet or not?

Nothing you can do besides make a new sheath on the glass filled nylon but on the other one you could cut the plastic insert where the knifes edge touches and replace it with a strip of thick leather, and epoxy it in place.

You could sharpen the knives enough so that you remove a bit of the cutting edge that is touching the sheath, it wouldn't dull anymore after that. Well, it shouldn't anyway. I've heard of this before and actually saw it on one BRKT knife I own, coincidentally that knife was scratched to hell when I bought it new from a store. The kydex sheath on it does not fit as well as it should, it's awkward.

I was able to put two really thin wooden shims in my kydex. Holds it steady and no more rattles.
