The more I look at the new "Pure Fighters" the more I like the 4" "Killer B". But I don't see any info at all on sheaths. I know I could have Normark whip up a jewel that matches my Badger Attack E sheath but...

Do they come with a sheath? Are there more pix available anywhere?

Sorry for the dumb questions but I was in the Black Rock Desert for 2 weeks when they were introduced :)

Ishay,
Those aren't dumb questions as I forgot the answers myself ;) and had to do a little reading. The sheaths are not included in the price, but sheaths for this series will be available to buy separately from the shop. However, these sheaths have yet to be announced, there is some more info in the following thread. http://www.bussecombat.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=000199

And of course as you mentioned there are always the aftermarket sheaths from Normark and David Brown.

I love Eric Noeldechen's (Normark) sheaths, wear one pretty much every day, and need to get a few more from "Da Sheath-Makin' Man Up North". But another sheath maker to consider that gets consistently good reviews here on BF is Mike Sastre of River City Sheaths. http://www.rivercitysheaths.com/

Ya gotta love it when you've got three impeccably top-notch sheathmakers to choose from (OnScene Tactical, Buy Brown, River City) when ya wanna dress your Busse up to go outside and play. :D

Hey Guys....

Yaa I want to see these babies myself...
I'm working on it guys...

I should have one ready by Monday:D Stay tuned;)

A very nice addition to many of the after market sheaths (OS/T,BB,RCS) is a Snap-Dot strap from Blade-Tech. They are at present my favorite way to attach an IWB sheath to my belt. :D Like Normark's J clip or a Tek-Lok, you can very easily attach the sheath to your belt without unhooking your belt. They only cost $10 for a pair of them from Blade-Tech. http://shop.blade-tech.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=239&step=4

One of these screwed into a sheath mounting hole allows a much narrower attachment to the belt than the "J" or "G" clips made from kydex/concealex that the makers usually make. What this buys you is the ability to set up an IWB reverse draw sheath that rides further forward than the clips allow, while still keeping your sheath anchor point behind the belt loop at the point of your hip. When I use a sheath with a J/G clip for IWB carry, it always seems there is a pants belt loop in just the wrong place. The Snap-Dot strap compensates for this to a large degree.

In practice the Snap-Dot strap, being flexible, simply allows the sheath to achieve its natural cant angle inside your waistband (as dictated by your body's configuration) and the strap will flex somewhat to accomodate it. The J/G clips that come standard with most sheaths are inflexible and typically allow a discreet number of knife handle cant angles per side (RightHand and LeftHand).

The downside of the Snap-Dot strap is that IMHO it doesn't offer quite as stable a draw platform as the clips do. The sheath isn't quite as "rigidly fixed" on your body as with a clip. Also, I would probably recommend a clip for horizontal carry. The clips usually capture a couple inches of belt length vs Snap-Dot's capturing about 3/4" of belt length.

IME though, the Snap-Dots allowing a more forward location of the knife handle more than offsets any sheath rotation they may allow at the instant of draw. So I'll be ordering a few from the Blade-Tech site to retro-fit a few sheaths I have at the house.

(Edit to add) I didn't make it clear, but the strap replaces the J/G or Tek-Lok clip on the sheath.

Thanks guys!

I have one of Eric's awesome sheaths for my BA-E (he even did some 'custom' work to my specs for no extra cost!) and can highly recommend them. I've also been using two of Mike's sheaths for a couple years now and can recommend them too!

Quite frankly, as much as I love my Busse's, almost $170 for a wrinkle black finish/cord wrap handle 4" fixed blade that does not even come with a sheath is one I'll have to pass on.

I've been looking at a custom fighter from a Forum maker in 3/16" hand finished satin Paul Bos ATS-34 with my choice of handle and bolster material AND a leather or kydex sheath for pretty much the same money.

Now a 4" Satin Jack...

That would be a different story:D

Hey Guys....

Yaaaa a 4" SJ.. Ok lets start a list of names started...:)
Get your pen and paper out Jerry..:)

As far as the pull the dot snaps go..

Yes they have a definate place in the sheathing world,,as does the G-clip ,J-clip, closed loop, H-loop, Tek-Lok and a multitude of other devices and ways of fastening sheaths to your body....

A static line on a nicely made sheath works well also,, but all of these have their place and time...

On a big knife like a BM-E, SH-E , even the NO-E I prefer to use a closed belt loop.. It gives a level of security that you can't get with anything else.. Simple, effective and not much to break,,not to mention Low profile and No bulk...

The body of the sheath is whats important.. Structural stability, design, fit, looks/style and function all should be incorporated into a good sheath..
The way it is attached is a Very personal thing..

Lots of people like and use the large TEKs.. I personally think they are one of the biggest improvements to manknind in the sheathing Biz,, but I don't personally use them. The added cost is prohibitive that being only one reason...

Will I put them on my clients sheaths...?

Sure I do...

I use clips on my personal blades that I have designed that I don't offer to the public,,because they are specialty clips that are untested in mass and I know their limitations.. This is what is comfortable to me, but maynot be to others...

I think the pull the dot straps are slick, under the right conditions and Definately with the right blade.. They work Very good for Highly decreet concealed carry,,but not for EDC.. I'll take a G-clip over them most any time...

I use the G-clip because it is a tried and true method and have had Very few break.. (Except when Owen gets ahold of them) :) LOL I'm just gonna send Owen a sheet and let him make his own.. :)

The point I'm trying to make is use what you Trust and feel comfortable with be it G-clips ,pull the dots or Tek.. All Great methods of fixing sheaths to your body!! Hey duct tape works as well but it hurts like hell to take off.. :)
