Hey guys, I just finished one of the sheaths that I'm doing for the passaround knives. One of the pieces to said sheath needed to be wet molded and is drying now. Tomorrow after it's dry, I'll post pictures. Hopefully tomorrow I have time to do the next sheath.
Update below!
Since I got passaround knife #1 first I thought I would make it's sheath first. When using and wearing #1 I kept thinking that it would be cool to have a Cross draw sheath at times and a low ride strong side sheath at other times. So I made a sheath that does both by using a frog and Sam Brown stud.
Setup for Strong side carry
Back with frog off
Front with Frog off
Setup for iwb cross draw carry
Wearing it iwb cross draw
As you can probably tell by the pictures, the sheath comes with two keeper straps. One is for when worn Strong side and the other for iwb cross draw. I've found that when a sheath is worn strong side if the keeper strap faces forward, there is a chance that something might catch and open it up. But when the strap faces back, stuff brushing it, helps keep it closed. When wearing the knife iwb cross draw and the strap is towards the edge (back), it gets caught in the belt but have the strap face the spine (back) and it rides along the belt with out getting caught.
The Sam brown stud should have been placed about 3/4" to 1" lower then where it is. This is the 1st time I ever used one with a frog so I'm still learning. Also I accidentally used a piece of belly leather for the tie down loop, please excuse that.
Will be including a leather lanyard/tie down cord with the sheath for use when the knife is worn Strong side. Hope you like it. Thanks!
