Sheaths or in pocket?

Are you guys all carrying in the pocket or did you get some special sheaths? I am looking at the Vess Leatherworks and think they are nice. Any opinions? Thanks.

I carry too much other junk in my pockets and a sheath saves the sebbies from being all scratched up. I have some sheaths from Lifter's Leather and three from Vess. Here is a picture of two that Vadim did for me this year for a small and a large LE Sebenza. I get the horizontal cross draw sheath that rides on my left hip for a right handed pull.

Great thing is that Vess has the knives already and you don't need to ship your knife back to him (unless its rare or a custom knife).

Those are so nice! Is Vadim the maker of "Vess"? May I inquire how much they are? I checked the site and didn't see any prices. I emailed, and haven't gotten a response yet. Cross draw? So cool. I think thats what I need!

When I'm wearing jeans I usually have a Small Sebenza clipped in my picket. When I wear slacks usually I use a pouch like the one below.
I like the horizontal carry. It looks better, IMHO, and draws less attention.

Small Sebenza and Microtech pouches.

I'm a pocket clip type but someday I may have to give the sheath a try.

All get clipped in the pocket. No sheaths.....EVER!!!

Even my damascus Sebbies ride "raw dog." :D

Day by day decision: pocket or CRK sheath
Mnandi EDC when wearing suit and tie clipped in the button-facing of the shirt under the tie or put in a nice small sheath made of ostrich leather.

Small Sebbie clipped in the pocket in jeans and such, Mnandi in slacks. I only carry the large Sebbie when I'm in the field.

Yes Vadim is his first name and his company name is Vess Leatherworks. He is a very busy man and he will eventually return your email; all you can do is send him another one after 3 - 4 days. He has some great ideas too. I just got a special sheath made for a Scott Cook Lochsa; made out of crocodile with a leather back. He made extra sure the crocodile molded properly with the leather backing and all I can tell you is it really is a beautiful, functional sheath.

Cross draw means that I am right handed and the sheath rides on my left hip in a horizontal position parallel to my belt. Very discrete and you wouldn't know I had a knife on my belt.

To answer your question about pricing; each situation is different based upon materials and any extras you request. The two I got for my Sebenza's worked out to be $55 each plus shipping. Worth while investment IMO.

Awesome! Sounds like a great deal. I was studying his site last night. Its amazing all the options out there. Thanks again! I am stuck between the cross draw and the horizontal sheath. I fear it falling out in the horizontal when I am running or being active though.

Vadim made me a beautiful sheath for my Spyderco UKPK. He was very accomodating and the design was purely my own to suit my exact tastes.

IIRC it was around $50 and I just love wearing it. Very discreet, and even non-knife nuts love it.

It also has the perfect grip. Your knife won't fall out but you can whip it out in a flash!

I've found that if I stretch it just a little, I can get the Mission Wallet to take a pen-an Acr AAA-small Sebbie-money and plastic.

I have a vess sheath for my small sebbie, but any more I just use the pocket clip. I like the look once the sandblasted ti finish on a sebbie gets all scratched up.
