Sheaths...where to find?

I placed another order with SMKW and received my package in outstanding time! I must have had bad luck with the first two. Anyway part of the order was a 140ot Trail Boss and a 141ot Outfitter and they didn't come with sheaths. It looks like they were bulk and never made it to final packaging. I have seen a couple of generic sheaths on the net but haven't seen much selection. I was hoping someone could point me the right way, the sheaths don't have to be schrade.
Also I am going to a NKCA show in March and this will be my first one. Can someone give me an idea what the shows are like?
Thanks to everyone for the help.

Glad you got your SMKW order prompty; they've been a little on the slow side for me lately. But dependable, as always.

SMKW has a large selection of knife sheaths, nylon and leather, expensive and cheap, brand-name and generic. A search for "sheath" at their front page shows 79 results.

Yeah, many of the Shrade closeouts I ordered were bulk packed. No box, no sheath, just some plastic wrap and a sticker. But for a last chance at those prices, I'm not complaining.

Good Luck in your sheath search,
Bob

There are lots of Schade sheats for sale on eBay -- I just recieved a tan leather sheath for the LB7 I bought (next-to-last one at the sporting goods store!). I recommend finding a good eBay seller's auction....

The sheaths for these 2 knives are black braided nylon with a plastic insert to prevent the nylon from being cut. Brass snaps on a nylon strap and a brass tie down gromet.
Schrade made (supplied) 3 sizes of this sheath 8 1/2, 10 1/2 and 11 3/4 inches for the TPR series of fixed blades. Both the 140 and 141 will fit in the middle size. The 141 will also fit the small as well.
Sorry I have no extra's

I think the X-Timer XT2B and XT3B series sheaths will work. My 140OT, 141OT, and 142OT fit in my XT2B sheath, and the snap closure works o.k.

The XT2B sheath does not have the kydex (or other plastic) liner of the original OT sheath, but is another you might consider. I also tried the 141OT in several leather Schrade sheaths, and only the 15OT sheath came close to being a fit, but no closure is possible because of the Safe-T-Grip handle diameter.

I checked SMKW but the fixed blade sheaths look like the handle strap is too small. I will keep an eye on ebay but it looks like I may have to make one.

PhilW, These look like a very easy sheath to make. Need a 2" heavy web strap, fold it up once to make the knife sheath, fold it back at the other end to make the belt loop, have your friendly local shoe repair place (I have had them modify holsters, repair sheaths) sew it all together for you. I had one like this made out of a Military pistol belt, sold it for a good price.

And your question about a big knife show... just get ready to be blown away. Think of the best of eveything on Ebay right there for you to pick up, examine, ect. You will no doubt see some custom knife sellers there with a bent in half knife on their table. Congratulate them! That is the knife used for their Journeyman or Master knifemaker test. Oh, make sure and take money. Lots of it, but I also carry a little notebook to jot down things I might be interested in buying later on in the show. I make down the table number, row number, whatever, the knife and the sellers name. Makes it easy to come back. Of course it might not be there. Take your best reference book (I carry a BRLevine 4th edition in a shoulder tote bag) but find a quiet corner to look up a knife you may be interested in.

Have fun and don't forget to give us a report!

I have a ton of these some need snaps I think I have replacments for those as well if you can't find what you need let me know. I have boxes ( big cardboard) of sheaths and I thnk there were some of the ballistics ( I know I saw them ). I am really not into that new stuff they made but I am sure it must be there. Let me know if you are hung up. LT

I bought a lot of Buck 110's and one of them came in a near brand new Old Timer sheath.
I won't have a use for it so will sell or trade. It is a light tan and looks new.
The rub is that I put it in a drawer and another apparently oiled sheath got against it, so now it has a darker oil spot about an inch long. So the only thing to do is get some neetsfoot or other oil and take it to a darker tan.

I am really impressed at how thick the leather on this sheath is compared to the Buck sheaths. I can do pics if anyone is interested.
Has Old-Timer on the flap. Very minimal crease marks at the fold.
I stuck this in this thread about sheaths. If it shouldn't be here a moderator can move or delete.
