Hello out there. I'm new to this forum. My question is; does anyone know where I can find a good leather shoulder holster/sheath for carrying a tactical knife? It can be custom or standard. Thanks in advance.
Dan

There are a number of superb leather sheath makers out there... try a search on this forum. I love good leather sheaths for some blades, like my Marbles Fieldcraft and Campcraft. The stacked leather handles, aluminum pommels, brass guards and carbon steel blades say 'tradition' and that means leather to me.
But if you're thinking 'tactical' (whatever that means), and that's what a shoulder rig says to me, you might be well advised to consider a synthetic like Concealex. Normark's Concealex sheaths accommodate a wide range of carries, are secure, less bulky than leather and more suited to concealment, IMHO. Talk to him about your needs and see what he advises.

Check out Gary Graley, who posts here frequently. He does some beautiful leather work. Try a search and I'm sure you'll locate him.

Thanks, Mr. Webster. Try http://www.dozierknives.com/ I think he still does custom work.

Hey Dan...

If it's a Tactical rig you are looking for then a synthetic sheath is probably your best bet...

Although leather is nice, traditional and maybe better looking, you can beat synthetics for low profile, security and tactical purposes...
With no snaps, straps or buckles to speak of a synthetic sheath allows for Grab and Draw...

Something I would suggest is a Blade Rigger shoulder rig..Nice and slim and does it job fairly well.

If you are interested I can build you a sheath for whatever knife you want to carry, building it around the Blade Rigger harness which would allow you both cross draw as well as strong armed draw..

Drop me a note and I will work with you on a design and get you what you need..
