Greetings All:

I just finished this Loveless style Dropped Hunter with my fancy guard, sheep horn, and a 600 grit hand-rubbed satin finish for a client. The pinned and soldered guard is machined out of a .75" x 1.00" x 1.75" block of stainless, so there's no bolsters on this one. The knife is ground to the original Loveless profile - the knife sports red liners - lots of hand fitting on this one, but worth it. All comments welcome.

V/R,

TK

Beautiful! That bolster is screaming for some engraving, IMHO. Real nice rams horn.

I am not a knife maker, I am only an avid knife enthusiast. That is one of the cleanest knife I have ever seen. I would give me right eye to own a piece of art like that!

Thanks for that Alamor - but to be honest, there's a proliferation of clean knives shown by lots of makers here! :)

Some fantastic patterns and colors in that ram's horn. Lovely piece, Tim. I agree with Darcy about the engraving. Maybe some gold leaf inlay, too.

Yes, engraving would a nice touch on the bolster, that rams horn is exquisite.

Now that my friend is very nice, love that horn too and agree with the amount of real estate there you could do a lot of engraving.

If I look closely it seems that the tang tapers both front to back AND top to bottom. Is that right? That, plus the raw shape of the sheep's horn on the outer surface make for a very difficult build. There is a lot of work getting the holes for the pins to be perfectly perpendicular to the center plane of the tang. Beautiful work, sir.
