So I go to the gas station to fill my wife's car and I'm still wearing my "yard" pants and a long flannel shirt, covering the leatherman and Strider SA-L that are permantently attached to the belt. I'm not going anywhere else so it's not a problem. Well the guy on the pump opposite me has a problem getting the receipt out of the pump and asks me if I have a nail file or a screwdriver. A nail file? So I go over and see that I can reach the lower end of the receipt with the Strider. Without thinking I draw the SA-L which is a rather small fixed blade but nevertheless a FIXED BLADE and proceed to fish the receipt out of the machine for the fellow. His reaction to the knife - NONE! He says thanks and is on his way as am I. What does this mean? He didn't see the knife? He did and didn't care? He was probably in his 40's. For me it was like being back in school in the 40's and 50's when we all carried knives (even in school) and it was not a problem.
