I have been wanting a keychain/pocket carry Sheepsfoot for a while. I had to purchase several to find the best fit for me, so hopefully this helps some of you.

Sog contractor ii
To me it looks the best and the micarta handles are awesome. The downside is the slipjoint spring is very tuff. Very hard to open and very thick for what you get. Its actually identical in size and thickness to my SAK Cadet heck even the blades are almost identical other than one being a sheepsfoot. I much rather carry a Cadet since I get the bottle opener. This Sog Contractor ii I tried to cut paper and it just cant since its dull from factory.

The Victorinox Twine knife
Very long at 4inches. Kinda too big for keychain but great for pocket with lanyard. While its sold as a Sheepsfoot blade it sure doesn't look like it. The blade could also be longer since the Frame has plenty of empty space. Seems like its wasted realestate to not take advantage of the 4in handles. On the plus side, the blade opens and closes the best. Soft to open and then its snappy to lock open and close....literally perfection. Slices and cuts through paper with ease. Very sharp out of the box. The 4in handle provides amazing grip when blade is open.

Then we have my #1 pick. The Kershaw Coral Sheepsfoot. The only downside is its heavy for keychain carry. The blade opens softly and with not much resistance, but than it locks back perfectly. The sheepsfoot blade is also the fattest and has good purchase for opening. This one also came sharp like the SAK Twine Knife. The blade thickness allows for easier cutting and it can still be used for tuff work since its a lockback design.

Here you can see them next to my Boker Cox Titanium slipjoint by Anso

ive never carried a knife on a keychain, I hate having a bunch of stuff on my keys. I do like a sheepsfoot though, very good for suburban task like breaking down boxes and such. 4" seems kinda large for a keychain knife. I like the look of that sog, didnt know that knife existed!

I agree with you too. The Sog Contractor ii.....is the only one of the bunch that can actually be on the keys since its identical in size to a Cadet but the darn spring in it makes the blade come out with a lot of effort. Makes it very hard to open and the snap open/close compared to the rest "violent" and one has to be careful not to cut oneself. I actually am planning on just using the blade for a SAK build I have in mind.

I hopefully will have the Beer Scout or Soda Scout to compare against next week.

Thanks for the comparison - I have been looking at both the Kershaw and SOG for some time. Not as a key chain hanger though - just a handy pocket workhorse.

BTW: this is how they look closed.....furthermore the Kershaw sheepsfoot blade you can make it go into the handle more by trimming the stopper as I did. check pic

I trimmed on the center part of the stopper where the blade begins. See pic

Than blade goes deeper into handles closed

Here is the Soda Scout, which is also a Sheepsfoot blade and also slipjoint.

The Soda Scout has:
Best open/close of main blade. It just feels right. Not too tight or loose
The handle is the same size as the Kershaw Coral
The Blade is actually equal size to the bigger Boker Cox just not as thick.
The blade takes full advantage of the grips/scales and fill it up nicely.
