OK, you guys got to me with the "All American" slippie pattern thread. When I started out collecting the Barlow caught my eye, but so far I've only gotten a few. I've been looking for a single blade sheepsfoot or Wharncliff carbon bladed Barlow but haven't found one. I did find a Queen model in stainless, but no carbon.

Does anyone know of an animal such as this, by any quality maker? At this point I don't even know what makers to be looking at.

Can't say I've ever seen a wharncliffe Barlow, except from a custom knife maker. I have several antique sheepfoot Barlows, Queen, Robeson, Kutmaster and others. If you are diligent, you will see them on Ebay eventually.
I don't think a wharncliffe blade would be a good fit in a Barlow pattern handle, but I'd like to see one!

This isn't a barlow, but kind of close. However, it has the wharncliffe main blade, and both blades are CV carbon steel, which is my personal favorite. You can get this one at vintageknives.com for around $40.

Sam,

Would you have a picture of the Queen model in stainless??? I would like to see what they look like...

Thanks,

Sunburst

I saw this one at the South Texas Knives website. Some import company brand. German made. I don't know if is carbon steel and it has two blades. I haven't had much luck finding exactly what you asked for, ParaGlock.

Thanks, that's a good call, but I happen to have one of those already. :) Heavily customized, it has amboyna burl scales, filework, purfeled bolsters, and has been redone as a single blade Wharncliff (not exactly, but that's what Case calls it). Actually one of the nicest knives I own. One of these days I'll get around to posting pics...

Ditto on the "posting pics" part.

Hiya Sam,
Here is a custom made by one of the talented knifemakers here at blade forums by the name of Todd Davidson

Scales are desert Snake-wood and Sheepsfoot blade is ATS-34.

Sunnyd, I sure do love that snakewood I have been wanting to get me a knife handled in that for a while...That filework is very well done also..One very nice knife.

Thanks once again for sharing,

Sunburst

Sunndy, that is indeed beautiful! The filework is outstanding. I'll have to check out Mr. Davidson's work.

I have a Laguiole de L'Artisan in snakewood ("amourette"), but the grain isn't as pronounced as that pictured. I love wood handles!

Well thanks guys!. Sunburst, Amos and Sam,

Todd Davidson is over at the Knifemakers for sale forum quit a bit and tang stamps his wares T.A. Davison. He is a very nice fellow to boot and always has some fresh goodies on sale. He also does fixed blades but his old vintage pattern slippies are really getting allot of attention as of late..

Best,
Anthony

check out worldknives.com and look at sheffield a.w wright
Thank you, Sir! While I was aware of the WorldKnives site, I had never looked at that particular section. Glad I did. Well, I'm glad. My wife and checkbook may not be.

Couple of nice hawkbills in that section, too!

I love/hate finding a new site with > $200 worth of knives I want... And I keep telling myself that those $250/300 folders are just "too much money". Sheesh.

Here's another of Todd's creations. It's not a Barlow but it is a single blade Wharncliffe.

The picture is Todd's too. The knife is now mine.
