I am looking at Sheffield-made knives from afar so, Google has been a bit mixed.
I am familiar with the Barlow pattern generally but, what makes the Clayton and Ergonomic what they are? From questionable pictures, the Clayton sort of looks like the mid-point between a traditional Barlow and the Ergonomic Barlow.
What makes each pattern unique? Any specific recommendations about one being better or worse than another? Or put another way, if you were buying a user-grade slip-joint in a Barlow pattern, which would you get and why?
To focus things a little, I am looking to spend ~$100US~$150US for a Lambsfoot knife that has a ~9CM stainless blade. So far, Michael May from Sheffield seems to be the leading knifemaker in my quest but, I am not committed at this point. Communication with him has been a bit problematic via email but, I'm not too critical as he is a knifemaker and not a marketing specialist!
TIA,
Sid
