Sheffield, Butler & Co. Hawkbill/Pruning Knife

Just purchased this yesterday. Well worn stag with a re-profiled blade.
Probably pre 1891 as the tang stamp doesn’t mention England.
It’s not in the greatest shape but I couldn’t resist buying it.

Very Kool there Bar! But is say's Sheffield, which is the same thing as England. There ain't but 1 Sheffield when it comes to cutlery! ;)

Hi Itsasportsbar. I think that your pruner was a great find. I love horticultural knives. I was very pleased to pick up mine a few months ago. Here it is but it has no name at all. The tang has been ground down to bring the cutting edge right round to the kick.

Nice old knife. George Butler used the ART trademark from 1861 and it was probably made before 1900 given the font IMO. Does it have a key symbol on the back side of the tang?
