I found this site to be very interesting. http://www.tilthammer.com/timeworks/index.html
Check out the water powerd grinding wheels and other equipment!! Average life for a grinder was 30-35 years due to breathing in the dust!!!! Wheels exploded KILLING the workers??? I appreciate my MODERN equipment even more now

The history of Sheffield is also very interesting including family histories on makers like George Wostenholm (IXL) etc.

Knives IN STOCK!!!!

Hey Neil, where ya been??? I saw in a book once where this knife making town in france had a mill like you explained. These guys did the grinding while laying on their stomachs and they often took their dogs to work with them and had them lay on their legs to help keep them warm. We should all have to experience those conditions for a few days. Sure would make us appreciate what we have more!

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!http://www.nebsnow.com/L6steel
