This knife just sold on Flea-Bay.
It is an interesting pattern.
There was little information about the knife listed in the auction ad.
There were no makers marks.
Maybe some of you can add some information.

Take a look and I hope you enjoy.

Keep Care,

Pappy

I swear that is the same tool my Proctologist used the last time I got a check up...at least it felt like it looked like that!

That is one cool knife that seems a little familiar ... been kinda of a long nasty day. Had to go to the hospital this A.M. due to extraordinary pain from a kidney stone. :D.

Seriously, Thanks for posting this Tim.

Oh, Yikes! I bet that was an absolute b***h to assemble!

Nifty ide'ar though. This hobby never ceases to amaze me!

Yeah, thanks for the post. :)

Sorry for your "stone" Gus! Been there;
Great look Pappy! Thanks for the peek.

very cool looking knife, would be intereesting if someone could chime in with more info or an idea of how old that one is.

What a wonderful little knife! Thanks for posting that, Pappy. In retrospect, the original owner would perhaps have been better served by a single-bladed knife with a stronger tip. About half of the blade tips on that knife appear to have been broken off. :p

The only thing I can say about that knife is that it's old, and it probably cost a pretty penny back when it was made. It looks like a demonstration or exhibition knife- meant for a display or a "curiosity cabinet". Unless there was a great demand for 16 bladed "barrel muskrat" knives.

And I'm changing my answer for the "what's the next GEC pattern you'd like to see" thread.

Oh man, I had one a couple years ago. I hope you get well soon friend. I think I'd rather do another rotator cuff surgery than have another kidney stone. Hang in there!

kinda looks like one of them orange things they just came out with to remove the .......out of the back side of a deer, except it aint orange.

but it's also very cool piece if i havent already said so,

Bob Cargill made some similar to that only his were much more refined and each was one of a kind, about 30+ years ago as I recall.

And his website is no longer hosted where it once was, so sadly I don't have a good link to share with y'all.

Anthony

EDIT TO ADD: Gus, I am sorry about your kidney stones brother, I hope you now are relaxing comfortably!

I believe Richard Rogers won best folder at the Blade show one year with a Barrel knife pattern he made. I think Bill Claussen loaned him the pattern of a Sheffield one...

I really can't look at those pictures it makes my head spin:D

Nice one Pappy.
And Bastid,I feel your pain.I had one several months ago where they had to put a stint in my kidney because I couldn't pass it. That on top of a catheter I felt brutalized.I hope you pass it swiftly and as painless as possible.

Very interesting... my gut instinct says German made, but I could be way off. Surprised it doesn' have any maker's mark. Perhaps made by a cutler having a little fun in his spare time. Again... pure speculation. Regardless, a most unusual knife. Thanks for posting it.
