She got herself cleaned up a bit. Got the grinds more even one the handle and surrounding areas, and got a nice tiger stripe patina added to her.

For some reason the new forum software shrinks pictures, so if you right click on one and hit view image, you can see it full size.

Nice knife, how do you like the grivory? I ask because I think my next purchase is going to have grivory scales and I'd like some opinions.

good job -- how bad did you butcher the old scales removing them?

The old scales broke on me last Friday evening. They were not a solid piece but rather three individual pieces, and after some batoning, one of them broke free. So, after deciding they had to go, I took a very small blunt chisel from one of my friends shop with a small hammer and we beat the piss out of them until they came off. Didn't take that much effort at all sadly.

The grivory feels a million times better, and she is even more blade heavy, which may have contributed to her amazing chopping power, cause she chopped even better after I got the grivory on there.

Here's what Derek is looking like these days...

Damn D, that looks 10 times better with the grivory. Sweet.

I like it too. Are those the scales I sent? The ones I scouted for you via third party? Scales from elsewhere?

I do believe they are Guyon. Thanks for that.

Oh, I wasn't fishing for a thanks, but you are most welcome. They just looked Camillus to me (you can tell), and I was wondering if I was right.

No, they are Kabar era grivory. I got a stack of Camillus grivory here though.

Maybe it's the lighting then. My Camillus stuff seems a little more textured. Of course, I could just be nuts.

F-ing sweet! Dude, I know I'm a huge Grivory fan, but even if I weren't, that is badass!

Looks good

I haven't used Becker grivory much, but I do prefer Micarta. Although on a larger blade I do like that it would be more of a chopper.
