Don't know how many of you have seen the article on "S-Guard" Bowies; page 44 of this month's (January 2011????)Blade, mentioning a few of your beloved makers, but here's another ClamShell "S-Guard."

This one's an 11 inch 1084 carbon steel, Mammoth Ivory, Frame-Handle, Take-down, Shell-Guard Bowie, with one of Paul Long's most extravagant custom sheaths ever. The Sash sheath is Russet leather, with tip and throat overlays, Ostrich leg insert, and features a tooled "Papoose" for the Stainless and D-2 takedown tool.

This one's on it's way to one of my long-time collector friends tomorrow, and I'll be back in the shop....

In response to "winterbear", and 'cause I forgot to make a photo for myself, here's a pic of the Bowie "taken down."

Have a good week-end all.

Another nice one John. I've been a fan ever since seeing your ivory dogbone bowie. I don't even really like that style of bowie but you did it so well.

John, that style of your's is in my top 5 Bowies (and when you do do it in white elephant, my top 3). Hat's off to you on a beautiful piece of design and workmanship!

Another Killer Combo! John, when you and Paul team up, it's ALWAYS a pleasure to behold! You guys take squeaky-clean to a new level...

That is an incredible bowie! Imaculate, long sweeping clip. Just the guard is a work of art in itself.

John that is real nice I love the long clip and all the other nice little things going on with this knife and the sheath just brings it all together.

Clean, clean, clean! Another slick Bowie John. Fine lines, I like it a lot.

Well done for sure, Jon

FANTASTIC John! Love that blade shape and clamshell S-guards are just COOL!

As always the leatherwork is superb.

Peter

Thanks for the comments, guys.

Jon, you're right on. The collector ordered this one after seeing yours. We picked this ivory out at San Antonio. It's beautiful, but the bark doesn't let me sculpt the scales like yours.

"winterbear", I've added a shot of the Bowie "taken down." Thanks for the reminder.

Now, "It's in the mail."

John
