hey, i'm looking to make/buy some shell puller bolsters for a "johnny cade" style leverlock. any info on grinding, cutting or purchasing prefabricated one would be much appreciated. i would prefer to make my own but don't have a ton of experience with metal working. i like the german springer style most. any help would be appreciated. thanks.

It is the guard that has the shell puller normally. The bolsters strengthen the guard.

To be honest, I only remember seeing then on stilettos and cheaper knives. I never knew anyone who actually wanted one for use. I suppose a big time skeet shooter might have a need, but my shells always came out easily on their own.

it's mostly for esthetics these days. this is the type i'm talking about, most people don't really have a lot of practical use for them now.

Contact Bill DeShivs. He is a member here and shell pullers is a big part of his business. He repairs old ones and builds new ones from scratch. I bet he can answer about any question you may have.
