just a pile of pics of a woods walk i did the other day.. i'm in a new area taking care of some family business and had some free time...
i explored some "remote" or atleast "inaccessible" areas and found this great little structure... it's obviously a non-winter shelter but please feel free to critique it...
there had been some mudslides lately and here are some of the results as well as the structure (which i did all of my reviews from under)
tell me the problems with this random shelter

mudslide on the way in

the ONE mistake made...... this shelter relies on a downed beaver trunk... balanced in an awkward way

Looking good. Gather more branches to fill in gaps. Where's the knife and gear part?

Great pics, and beautiful area.

The shelter is not insulated enough. Needs more on the ground, allot more on the sides and roof. Plus it's way too big for 1 person. Maybe it was just a summer hangout.
I am not into using fallen trees that have not quite fallen to a secure position as a shelter. That main support tree is being held up by a few smaller bent trees, that eventually will give out. I wouldn't want to be under that when the tree did complete its fall...

Not to mention making a shelter on a bluff over looking the river will probably get quite windy...
