Pala got a call from Nepal yesterday and learned he has a couple of Gorkha nephews serving with the British Army in Iraq. The country is going to be full of khukuris.
 
Wonder how many of those lads have even seen a khuk made by no less than the royal kami! Theirs might not be as nicely finished, but the ones I've seen were by no means junk.;)

I don't think a self respecting Gorkha would bother carrying an out and out piece of junk. :)

you are right there pappy, they will be carrying what they know and trust.there everyday tool+weapon a khuk they trust and probably handed down from family,or made by local kami of there village.:)
 
When brother-in-law, Lhakpa, was serving with 10PMOGR in Hong Kong he sent me a couple of khukuris from Gurkha Stores. They were certainly serviceable but a far cry from HI quality. Fit and finish surprisingly poor.
